Premier League all-time leading goalscorer and Newcastle legend Alan Shearer, shares his verdict on Liverpool new signing. In the summer 2021 transfer window, Liverpool Signed Ibrahima Konate for 36 million pounds from RB Leipzig.

The 22-year-old French international made his third appearance for the Reds this season and his second in the Premier League. Ibrahima Konate has two clean sheets out of two Premier League appearances. Many Pundits had the doubt that is it right for Liverpool to Sign a young defender when they needed an experienced centre-back?

Well, his performance against arch-rivals Manchester united raised many eyebrows. Konate paired with Virgil Van Dijk and they both stood strong against Cristiano Ronaldo and co.

Alan Shearer has Included Liverpool’s new Centre back Ibrahima Konate in his Premier League team of the week column.

Shearer’s verdict on Konate

Liverpool’s summer signing kept Cristiano Ronaldo and co quiet in a superb performance alongside Virgil van Dijk. Rock-solid

There were question marks over Konate. Joining for a sizable figure, he had only played twice. Was he good enough for the Reds?

Well, a clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford and marking Ronaldo, could have made or broken Konate. It has certainly done the former.

The Frenchman will now surely be in line to start against Brighton on the weekend, and perhaps even in the Champions League against Atletico.

For Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, it is a blow regarding their game time. But Konate deserves enormous praise, coming in cold to shine like he did.

Liverpool’s only summer signing Ibrahima Konate showed his potential against a tough side. Which has given him the confidence that he needed to strive and succeed in a legendary club like Liverpool. Klopp has given Konate the confidence that he needs to play in the best league in the world.

Thus, Konate’s future looks brighter as a ray of sunshine while playing for the Reds.
