Four key things from the first Austria training session of Liverpool FC

Liverpool are back in Austria for a significant training camp ass the countdown to the new season begins in earnest. And there were a few things we noticed from the first session.

First-day at training in Austria for Liverpool

Liverpool Left-back Andy Robertson was not much optimistic about the team’s next destination.

He said:

“I don’t think any of us look forward to Austria. It’s always where it gets ramped up a little bit, it’s always that wee bit harder, but so important.”

The Premier League season begins in just two weeks. So it is unquestionably crucial, and Jurgen Klopp’s team will be put to the test during the coming week before returning to England.

They will take full advantage of this period that is exclusively theirs to continue laying the groundwork for the future.

Here is what we saw on Friday during their first session in Austria.

Boys Riding the bikes

The beautiful Saalfelden, Austria, is frequently visited by Klopp’s team. And this year is no different, assuring the continuation of their pre-training routines.

And that includes riding a bike to training, which you would dread having to do after some of the rigorous sessions they are sure to have!

The manager almost swore because his attempt to cut it close to the cameraman was almost a bit too close. Some people always appear a little more confident on two wheels than others.

The problem with the bike was less of a concern for Fabio Carvalho than his helmet “messing up my hair.”

Few Players missing

The Reds’ first practice in Austria was held the day after their 5-0 victory against RB Leipzig. Thus a few famous names were conspicuously absent.

Seven players from the 31-man roster that Klopp selected for the training camp. Adrian, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Andy Robertson, Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Darwin Nunez were not present for the first outdoor practice.

Alisson, Calvin Ramsay, and Kaide Gordon, who are all still recovering from injuries, were also nowhere to be found.

The Rondo

Jordan Henderson had this to say as Naby Keita, and Kostas Tsimikas found themselves in the middle of a one-touch rondo. They were probably searching for a response: “Oh my days, this is so wonderful.”

Joel Matip disagreed with Tsimikas over who was at fault. But the centre-back firmly believed that “it was a lazy ball, it was not even hard.”

Simply said, Joel must be loved.

Thiago and Diaz put on a skill show

Throughout the entire practice, Thiago and Luis Diaz were beaming. And they concluded with a stunning display of coordination as they performed keepie uppies together.

The control and touch, along with Thiago’s new boots, a recreation of the 2004 Adidas Predators in black, gold, and white, are both breathtaking sights to behold.

This is Diaz’s first preseason. And after quickly settling in after moving in January, you can already tell that his knowledge and influence will increase this summer.

While Liverpool needs the Spaniard to be a reliable option in midfield, he did carry an injury into the summer break. So, creating a good foundation will be important for him.

A working relationship between those two on the field will only make the opposition more vulnerable because they both appear healthy and robust.
