Liverpool FC are reportedly hoping to sign Sporting midfielder Matheus Nunes this summer.

The Merseyside giants have already had a fruitful six weeks in the transfer market. They successfully went on to conclude deals with Calvin Ramsey, Darwin Nunez, and Fabio Carvalho.

Jurgen Klopp said that it would be astonishing if any more new faces arrived at Anfield. Bu a new central midfielder briefly appeared to be very much on their agenda.

Liverpool went losing out to Real Madrid in the hunt to recruit Aurelien Tchouameni from Real Madrid. But Klopp insists that his squad has strength-in-depth in the centre of the field.

However, Correio da Manha claims that Liverpool hasn’t necessarily given up on their pursuit of a player to supplement their existing roster.

According to the report, Liverpool is eager to start “formal negotiations” with Sporting regarding a prospective Nunes transfer.

The Portuguese international may move to the Premier League this summer. Wolverhampton Wanderers and Chelsea are previously said to be interested in acquiring his services.

However, speculation of a transfer to either Molineux or Stamford Bridge has subsided. As possibly opens an easier path for Liverpool to pursue the 23-year-old.

If Sporting decides to sell what is likely their most valuable asset, they reportedly hope to collect somewhere about £45 million.

Nunes has played 99 games since making his senior debut in the 2019–20 season. He went on to record seven goals and eight assists in those games.

A consistent fixture on the international stage, the player, has earned eight caps for Portugal because to his exploits with Sporting.

Nunes participated in three of Portugal’s most recent four UEFA Nations League matches, albeit on each occasion as a substitute.

Although his contract has four years left, there is speculation that Sporting would be willing to sell him for the right price.
