Fabrizio Romano has revealed the priority of Liverpool in the midfield. The Reds despite having a chance to re-sign a former midfielder, are prioritizing renewing the current baller on a better contract.

This transfer window has been nothing short of a roller coaster ride for Liverpool fans.

They have seen acquisitions of Nunez, Carvalho, and Ramsay.

While they have already seen and will see some departures. Players like Origi and Mane who have served the club so well are going to leave the Anfield.

Apart from this, we are also seeing certain extensions like Milner.

The club is also hoping to renew the contract of certain players instead of signing others.

Liverpool prioritizes renewing Naby Keita over signing Wijnaldum

Fabrizio Romano discussed Liverpool’s summer priorities on the Here We Go Podcast.

The Reds have already signed three players this summer, and The Times reports that there will be no further arrivals at Anfield this window.

Despite these claims, rumours have surfaced that the Reds are interested in bringing Georginio Wijnaldum back to the club. But Romano claims that these rumours are false.

Liverpool’s first objective right now, according to Romano, is to extend the contract of Naby Keita. As he is entering the final year of his contract.

Romano said:

I wanted to clarify, many Liverpool fans have been asking me about Wijnaldum rejoining Liverpool, but there’s nothing, sources tell me that this is fake news, the real priority right now is to extend the contract of Naby Keita. Let’s remind you that they’ve already signed Fabio Carvalho and Darwin Nunez, but also Calvin Ramsay,

Liverpool priority: Other renewals

Liverpool’s transfer business appears to be completed. And all eyes are now on contract renewals for key players.

Joe Gomez is allegedly in line for a new contract. Naby Keita is a priority for the Reds, and there’s still the subject of Mohamed Salah’s future at Anfield to consider.

Julian Ward has already made three impressive additions this summer. But attempting to prolong these contracts will put him to the test.

It’s unclear whether Keita, Gomez, or Salah will sign new contracts.
