Fabrizio Romano confirms La Liga star willing to join Liverpool

Finally, Anfield is ready to welcome a new member! After an uncharacteristically quiet beginning to the summer transfer window, Liverpool are edging closer to their first summer signings at last. Not one but two incomings are on their way: Martin Zubimendi and Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Despite being the only club in Europe’s top five leagues without a new addition this summer, the Reds are now ready to welcome two La Liga stars in their team.

Zubimendi and Mamardashvili: Double Incomings?

Their top priority is Martin Zubimendi. Thanks to a release clause in his contract, the Real Sociedad midfielder might be available for £51 million, an amount Liverpool have no difficulty in paying. The personal terms with the player should not be an issue either, despite Sociedad’s reluctance to let him go.

In addition to midfield, Liverpool are also eyeing a long-term replacement for Alisson Becker. Manager Arne Slot has his sight set on Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili. The 23-year-old is considered as one of Europe’s best young goalkeeping talents.

Mamardashvili had a fabulous season with Valencia, keeping 13 clean sheets in 37 appearances. Not to mention, his performances for Georgia in Euro 2024 have only made him more tempting for the big clubs.

Liverpool want to sign him and send him out on loan for the upcoming season. While Alisson remains the undisputed No. 1 at Anfield, Slot is planning the future without the 31-year-old Brazilian.

What Does The Expert Say?

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Liverpool’s interest in Mamardashvili and also noted the player’s eagerness to join the Reds.

“What I can say, and I think this is also an important detail, is that Mamardashvili would also be keen on this possibility [of joining Liverpool].”

Romano told GIVEMESPORT.

“So Mamardashvili is also open to saying, okay, I’m going to Liverpool, I’m not going immediately, because now the goalkeeper is Allison, but maybe in the future I will be Liverpool goalkeeper.

So he’s ready to go on loan, but still being a Liverpool player. So Mamardashvili is open to that. Now depends on Liverpool. They have to decide what they want to do.”

Reports from Spain suggest that Valencia would accept a bid in the region of £30million for Mamardashvili. Meanwhile, Liverpool’s back up goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is attracting interest from several clubs, including Celtic, Nottingham Forest, and Wolves, as he seeks regular playing time.
