Ex-Liverpool star, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, has reportedly told his friends at Liverpool that he would be joining Aston Villa amidst other offers on the table.
As per Football Insider, the 29-year-old has been assessing a number of options since his departure from Anfield. Sources have suggested that the England international has cleared his locker room at Merseyside and is seemingly headed towards Villa Park.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is now expected to complete a move to Villa when he becomes a free agent on July 1. As reported last week, the player is in advanced talks to join the Midlands outfit.
Unai Emery seems to have lured the midfielder by explaining how he would fit into the Villa squad. The Spaniard admires Oxlade-Chamberlain’s versatility, dynamism, and ability to create and score goals.
Villa also completed the signing of the midfielder, Youri Tielemans who arrived for free after getting relegated with Leicester City. Similar to the Belgian, the Englishman is also set to move to Midlands on a free.
Oxlade-Chamberlain: From Liverpool to Aston Villa
The former Arsenal player has been frustrated with a lack of game-time since his arrival in 2017. His injuries are a major part of him being sidelined.
He again had just 13 appearances and 491 minutes in total across all competitions in the 22/23 season. However, the Southampton academy graduate has made 235 Premier League appearances in his career, with 20 goals and 28 assists.
A move to the Midlands club might just be the perfect opportunity for the Englishman. Unai Emery has just taken his side to the Europe League and could do with a dynamic and strong presence in the middle of the park.
This is exactly what Oxlade-Chamberlain would bring to the Spaniard’s table. He is still a fan favourite for the clutch moments he provided at Anfield.
