Everton manager Sean Dyche jokes that Jurgen Klopp has earlier commented about his coat which sparked their heated clash at Anfield back in 2021.

Sean Dyche has opened up on the angry exchange that flared up between him and the German genius at Anfield while he was managing Burnley in January 2021.

Sean Dyche on Klopp

On speaking to Sky Sports the Everton manager said

“It was nothing like that, he felt that you know my coat was not good”

He also said

“I think fans don’t mind that, they want to see two managers for their teams for their clubs standing up and then after the game, it’s gone, for me, it’s done”

“That use to be more regular occurrence in football maybe not so much now, but it use to be nothing”

The Merseyside giants would be looking for a win at this crucial fixture to gain some confidence before they meet the Champions League defending champions, Real Madrid in the round of 16.

Red’s current situation

Eleven points and eight league places separate Liverpool and Everton but both clubs are enduring poor seasons so far.

The Merseyside giants are, seemingly, in free fall- winless in their four Premier League games so far in 2023 which includes 1 draw and 3 losses. The Reds have scored just once across those matches.

Only Bournemouth have picked up as few Premier League points as Jurgen Klopp’s side in 2023 and the English giants would sit rock bottom of a 2023 PL table.

Only once in the PL era have the Reds endured a long winless run at the start of a calendar year of five games in 2017.

This game has so much at stake, the Reds need to show who are the Merseyside giants.

Will the Merseyside be painted Blue or Red?
