Dream over for West Ham as ‘elite’ £51 million star reportedly closes in on Liverpool move

The Hammers suffer a big blow as Liverpool and Khepren Thuram are close to agreeing a deal. Jurgen Klopp is set to rebuild his midfield for this season, will Thuram join the Reds next season?

Liverpool to swoop in and acquire Thuram?

The ‘elite’ £51 million player Khephren Thuram is supposedly getting closer to a transfer to Liverpool, ending West Ham United’s hopes. Khephren Thuram, a transfer target for West Ham, is on the verge of joining Liverpool, claims Nice-Matin.

Given his incredible talent, the young Frenchman would have been the ideal Declan Rice successor. However, it seems as though that dream is now gone as Liverpool gets closer to signing the Nice star.

Khephren prefers to join Anfield next season

According to Nice-Matin, the Reds are about to sign the French sensation. And for the Hammers, that’s a terrible pity. Thuram is exactly what Breaking The Lines refer to as an “elite” midfielder.

This season, the Frenchman scored two goals and provided four assists in 35 Ligue 1 appearances for Nice. The 22-year-old made those appearances on average 1.5 tackles and 1.1 interceptions a game. He averaged 37.7 passes per game, with an excellent completion percentage of 86.9%.

He has the tenth-most advanced carries per 90 minutes among Ligue 1 midfielders this season, and Total Football Analysis has called him an exceptional performer.

When Declan Rice inevitably departs the London Stadium, the Nice star possesses all the qualities required to effectively take the reins from him.

However, it appears like Liverpool are in a strong position to buy Khephren Thuram in the upcoming summer transfer window, which is unfortunate for West Ham.

Pundits believe Moyes should have signed the 22-year-old far sooner.

With MacAllister already signed into the squad, together with Manu Kone and Thuram, the midfield is looking up to be in great shape. The squad depth was one of the biggest reasons for an underwhelming campaign last season. Let’s see how the Reds come back this season.
