Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez would not miss the next fixture against Chelsea even though he picked up his fifth yellow card of the season.
Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Bournemouth showed just how much Darwin Nunez has been improving this season. Moreover, he could be the main man in the absence of Mo Salah.
Diogo Jota and Nunez made the difference against the Cherries and their win put them five points clear at the top of the table.
It was a huge boost to Liverpool’s title charge as well as the Uruguayan’s confidence. Those goals saw him move to 10 goals and 10 assists in 31 games in all competitions this season.
Moreover, any doubts over his abilities could be put to ground as he has been in great form. The previous international break showed us how good he could be, not just as a striker but also as a provider.
However, he did pick up his fifth yellow card of the season. Despite this, he would be available for the starting XI for Klopp against Chelsea.
Darwin Nunez Available for Liverpool Despite His Fifth Yellow Card
The striker picked up his fifth yellow card which would technically see him miss the next fixture.
However, in this case, Nunez’s 4 previous yellow cards came in the first 19 games which is the first half of the season.
His 5th yellow card on Sunday came in his 21st game which is the second half of the season. This means Klopp could use his striker against the inconsistent Chelsea side on 31st of January.
Moreover, Mauricio Pochettino’s side have a very poor record at Anfield during the Klopp-era.
Before that though, the Reds have their EFL Cup tie against Fulham and an FA Cup tie against Norwich. This means that Klopp’s side would be playing 3 games in 7 days.
