Liverpool begins their Carabao Cup campaign in style with their young lads showing the depth of the Reds squad. Following a 3-0 victory over Norwich City, Liverpool now progresses to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

It was a battle between the depth of the squads for both sides as in total there were 18 changes made by the teams for this game. While Liverpool gave an opportunity to 2 teenagers, who made their senior team debut in name of Kaide Gordon and Conor Bradley.

It took only 4 minutes into the game for Minamino to give the Reds an early lead in the game. Moving on, Norwich were struggling to convert their chances into a goal and even after receiving a spot-kick gift from the Reds, The Canaries failed to score. Following a brilliant save from Liverpool’s second-choice goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, the Reds carried a 1-0 advantage in the second half.

Just like the first half, the 2nd half also saw an early goal for Liverpool in the name of Divock Origi. Thus, giving the former Premier League champions a 2 goal cushion in the 50th minute. Further, the Turkish (Minamino) brace confirmed Liverpool’s qualification in the next round.

Moving on to the fourth round, which will be taking place around 26th October next month. The draws of which are going to commence on the 22nd September 2021.

Carabao Cup: Norwich vs Liverpool Post Match Reaction

Klopp looked quite impressed with the performance of his team at the night against Norwich. Speaking about the game Klopp said

“We started well, really aggressive and then you can see we didn’t train that much. I had to make late decisions and this is where the last line and goalie saved us in these moments”.

Keeping faith in his squad depth and giving chance to the younger players Klopp was surprised with the show they put on together. Talking about the goals and performance of his players the boss said

“we managed to score the second, then the third and controlled the game. The kids did exceptionally well, all three physically strong and maybe the biggest surprise was they could all go 90 minutes. I’m really happy for them because it was a big moment.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s right-back Conor Bradley became the first Northern Irish player since 1954. Commenting on this statement Klopp told the press that if someone had told him earlier about Bradley he would have played him sooner than later.
