Eintracht Frankfurt have confirmed that Evan Ndicka will be leaving the Bundesliga outfit on a free transfer with Spurs and Liverpool reportedly interested.

The defender was said to have rejected a contract renewal from the German outfit many months back. He had decided on leaving the club at the end of the season amidst interest from PL clubs.

However, it was reported a few weeks back that the defender would be signing a new improved deal with the former Europa League winners. Unfortunately for Frankfurt, such claims proved to be wide of the mark.

Currently, the defender is highly in demand. Both Liverpool and Spurs are reported to be keen on luring the defender to their respective clubs.

The sporting director told the press about the situation and the club have officially told the same.

“We would have liked to have seen Evan (stay) at Eintracht Frankfurt. So it’s a shame that he’s leaving us.

We’d like to thank Evan for our five years together, in which he played as a starter. He has played his part in the sporting success and positive development of Eintracht Frankfurt. We wish him all the best for his future.”

Does Liverpool need Ndicka?

Ndicka was linked previously to Liverpool when rumours surfaced about his unwillingness to extend at his current club.

The defender is yet to decide his destination and only time would tell us where he would be playing next season. Liverpool, as a matter of fact, does need another defender with Matip entering his final season on his contract.

The Reds are also said to have been linked with Wolfsburg defender, Micky Van de Ven. The 22-year-old is well known to the new Liverpool sporting director, Schmadtke from his time at the German club.

However, this season, the Reds weren’t at their best and it wasn’t their midfield only to blame. The defence also deserves some slack.

The likes of Van Dijk and Konate underperformed and were inconsistent which led to goals being conceded. Hence, this could be a perfect opportunity for Klopp to strengthen his defence along with midfield.
