Franck-Kessie to Liverpool

Franck Kessie has been linked with a departure from Barcelona in this summer’s transfer window, with Liverpool one of the interested suitors. But the midfielder is not giving up on his place in Xavi’s starting XI.

However, the agent of the Ivorian has said that the player is going nowhere this summer. Although the Catalan club are struggling financially and are looking to sell players to raise funds.

Kessie to Liverpool was bogus?

The La Liga champions are reportedly looking to sell players in order to meet their financial needs and also are planning to bring in a new player. Also, Xavi was reported to have wanted to sell players who aren’t necessarily in his long-term plans.

It was reported that Kessie had a meeting with Xavi and was told that he had to be sold for financial reasons. With Liverpool targeting the Ivorian, it was rumoured that there would be a £30 million price tag.

However, these rumours have been put to bed by the player’s agent who claimed that these rumours are ‘fake‘.

The agent said that the position of the player hasn’t changed and he is committed to Barcelona. Moreover, Xavi insisted he was a key player and was not for sale.

“We’re very happy with him, he’s putting in some excellent performances. He rarely loses the ball, and the timing of his runs into the box is good. He works hard for the team and is generous with his teammates.

The matches that he’s been playing are giving him confidence, he’s patient and he’ll be important for us. I’m very happy with Frank.”

This might come out as a blow for Liverpool and their supporters as they have potentially missed out on another midfielder with another being Bellingham.

Kessie had appeared to be one of them and if he was to be available for £30m, he would certainly be in Liverpool’s price range. But it now appears that Klopp may have to take the Barca man off his shopping list.
