Mauricio Pochettino’s new look Chelsea would be welcoming the former PL champions Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool on the opening day of the 2023/24 Premier League season.
The Argentine will officially begin his reign as Chelsea boss on July 1st. He would face Klopp’s ever-hungry squad when the Premier League will officially kick off on August 13.
After a disappointing campaign from both teams, they would look to start off the new campaign strongly. Although the Reds finished in 5th place and earned a Europa League spot, they have had a disappointing season.
Meanwhile, the London outfit finished 12th and have no European competitions to compete for the next season. They would solely be focused on the domestic forms of competition, the league, Carabao Cup, and the FA Cup.
However, it wouldn’t be an easy task considering that Manchester City just swept up all the domestic trophies, on their way to the treble.
Other Premier League fixtures for the 2023/24 campaign
The Premier League Champions would be facing the Championship winners, Burnley where the City legend, Vincent Kompany would kick off his new campaign against the team he captained for 8 years.
The team who challenged City for the title, Arsenal, would host Nottingham Forest on the first Saturday. Meanwhile, the other North London club would be in a London derby where Tottenham would be facing Brentford.
The opening weekend would then conclude when Manchester United welcomes Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford, on August 14.
Luton Town’s first Premier League match will come away to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday. Meanwhile, fellow newly-promoted side Sheffield United will host Crystal Palace.
The late kick-off on the opening Saturday sees two of the most impressive sides from last season, Newcastle United and Aston Villa, face off at St James’ Park.
The other opening weekend fixtures see Bournemouth host West Ham United and Everton. The Toffees, who only avoided relegation on the final day last season, welcomes Fulham to Goodison Park.
