£150,000 a week star willing to finally sign for Liverpool – Reds move again

Last year, Kalvin Phillips, the former Leeds United player, attracted significant interest from Liverpool (The People), but ultimately decided to join Manchester City.

The £150,000-per-week contract that the England player signed extends until 2028, but things have not gone well for him at the Etihad.

If media rumors are to be believed, Liverpool have once more made an approach, and Phillips is ready to sign a contract this time.

Kalvin Phillips is on the ‘Liverpool radar’

The Merseysiders have given the Sky Blues midfielder’s acquisition first priority, according to an exclusive piece published by The Daily Star. Bellingham is no longer in the running to be signed by the Merseysiders.

According to Jeremy Cross, the Anfield club have informed the 27-year-old of their interest in a £35 million transfer. The Three Lions star is reportedly open to joining the Reds.

Under Marcelo Bielsa, Phillips played an important role in the Leeds team that won the Championship and flourished in the Premier League.

He was a crucial part of the England team that advanced to the 2021 European Championships final.

The Scousers need a reliable presence in their midfield

When Phillips led England to the 2021 Euros final, he seemed to have the world at his feet. He was one of the show’s stars and had a dream transfer to Guardiola’s English champions within a year.

The 26-cap international has played 405 minutes in all competitions since joining Man City, although Guardiola is yet to give him a start.

His primary position is that of a defensive midfielder and deep-lying playmaker in the No. 6 position. Under Jurgen Klopp, Fabinho has mostly played in that position at Anfield, although his performance this season has been merely ordinary.

To improve in the next season, Liverpool needs to bring in a number of top-notch midfielders. Should they spend £35 million to entice Kalvin Phillips, in your opinion?
