Van Dijk hopes to continue the form after AC Milan victory
Following Liverpool’s Champions League win over AC Milan, Clarence Seedorf asked Virgil (via Prime Video): “What would be the most important thing now [going] forward to do?”
Van Dijk replied: “It sounds very easy but the consistency, like you have to stay fit. You have to do everything in your power to be ready for the next game, whether you start or not. And you have to feel part of the winning games so we need all the guys to be ready. You know, the guys that are on the bench, they might be disappointed.”
“Today we made two substitutes (starting lineup changes) with Robertson and Luis Diaz, and obviously they want to play these games but we need everyone in the best shape of their life and respect the decisions. And I think that’s key in order to be successful because there will be rotation. We need everyone to keep pushing and do everything in their power to stay fit.” says Van Dijk after AC Milan victory.
Rotating the squad is key in an intense season, as Liverpool needs the whole squad to compete at the highest level. As captain Van Dijk said, ” We need everyone fit”.
Van Dijk scored against AC Milan to give Liverpool the lead, however, his future at the club is still uncertain. Van Dijk has entered the final year of his contract and the club still hasn’t offered him a new contract.
