Liverpool set to make two major signings in January transfer window
Life under new manager Arne Slot has started well for Liverpool, but the Reds must make certain additions during the January transfer window.
Federico Chiesa and Giorgi Mamardashvili are two signings Liverpool made in the summer. The two signings still did not assess the issues within the squad. However, Liverpool can make things right in the winter transfer window.
How can Liverpool use the January transfer window to strengthen the squad?
So far it has been a good start to Arne Slot’s managerial career at Liverpool, with 9 points in the Premier League and an away win in the Champions League. But there are still key issues which Slot should address.
According to Football Insider, Liverpool are exploring options for a defensive midfielder and a left-sided centre-back in January. Liverpool wanted to solve the midfield issue with Martin Zubimendi, however, that did not work out.
With Ryan Gravenberch playing exceptionally well in the No.6 role, a left-sided defender should be more of a priority for Liverpool in the January transfer window. Virgil Van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate make an unbelievable partnership at the heart of Liverpool’s defense, but an injury to Konate could cause problems for Liverpool.
A defensive midfielder and a left-sided centre-back are issues Liverpool failed to address in the summer. But according to reports these issues might be solved in January. Currently, no names are being mentioned, but a few names could be linked to Liverpool before the January transfer window as they look to upgrade their defensive side.
