Another European night another win for Liverpool as they beat Atletico Madrid on their home turf to go top of the group B table in the UEFA Champions League.
The scoreline remained the same but the teams exchanged their position. As it was Liverpool this time who got the better of their opponents, Atletico. The kick-off saw the Men in yellow outclassing the men in Red and white strips for the initial 15 minutes. As Liverpool were 2 goals up with the 1st quarter of the game.
However, Atletico had different plans on the night and with their star forward back at the Wanda Metropolitano in the name of Antoine Griezmann, resulted in equalling out the game for Atletico. As the French international scored a brace on the night.
While we had a dramatic beginning to the second half. As Atletico’s hero on the night was shown a straight red leaving the game open for an anti-climax. The momentum-shifting towards Liverpool saw a silly challenge from Hermoso over Diogo Jota resulting in a penalty. Thus, the man in form Mohamed Salah successfully registered a brace on the night by converting from the spot-kick.
Next up for Liverpool is a trip to Old Trafford to face their arch-rivals Manchester United. It is surely going to be a fascinating encounter between the Reds and the Red Devils in the Theatre of Dreams.
