AC Milan v Liverpool: Player Ratings
Goalkeeper and Defenders
Allison (GK) – 7/10
The Brazilian was made the captain on the night. He couldn’t do much about the goal being conceded by the Reds from the corner.
However, he did a good job at the end by making a save from his face and ensuring a win for the Reds. All over a decent performance.
Neco Williams (RB) – 8/10
The Wales international now looks like a grown-up professional. He performed quite well and did an excellent job in one on one situations with Theo Hernandez.
Stopping dribbles and crosses, Neco now certainly seemed to be a better player overall as compared to his previous season with the Reds.
Ibrahima Konate (CB) – 9/10 [King of the Match]
There are not many defenders in the world of football who can handle Zlatan Ibrahimovic as he did on the night. Thus, a brilliant performance by the 22-year-old.
Won the aerial duels and played some delightful passes to the midfield, Konate looked a complete player.
Nathaniel Phillips (CB) – 7/10
A decent return for Nat, who was back in starting line-up after a long time. He made some decent clearance and was up to his task.
His drag back between 2 Milan players in his own penalty box was the highlight real of his game on the night. Thus, this will surely see a price hike in the transfer market.
Kostas Tsimikas (LB) – 7.5/10
He looks more positive and confident now and has settled quite well among the Reds.
One can say he has certainly increased his chances to be in the first time quite often. The Greek international did quite well offensively as well as defensively. Thus, he might give a tough competition to Robertson in the near future.
Tyler Morton (CDM) – 7/10
His performance curve seems to have an inclination one. As Morton is improving by every game he plays for the Reds.
A good and solid performance for the 19-year-old.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (CAM) – 8.5/10
The 2nd best men on the field after Konate. The England international looked full of energy and he was the one responsible for changing the gears in the middle of the park for the Reds.
A decent strike from OX which eventually converted into a rebound for Mo Salah.
Takumi Minamino (CM) – 6/10
A sloppy performance from the Japan International. A benefit of doubt might be given to him on the night as he was not playing at his natural position.
However, he did quite well in the later stage of the game when he was eventually shifted at the left-wing.
Mohamed Salah (RW) – 8/10
The record-breaker Egyptian King is in the form of his life. Salah became the highest goal-scorer (7) for the Reds in the group stage of the European competition in a season.
The 29-year-old seems to be the best player in the world at the moment. Thus, a Ballon d’Or might be on his way towards the Egyptian in the next year.
Divock Origi (ST) – 8.5/10
Why are Liverpool ready to sell him. The Belgian international performed brilliantly and was full of energy just like he use to be 2 years back.
The Reds super-sub was a starter this time and his alertness rewarded him with a goal on the night.
Sadio Mane (LW) – 7/10
Had a few good energetic spells but his contribution towards the team play was immense. Thus, the Senegalese had a decent night upfront.
Most of his efforts were beneficial for some other players in the team as the end product was missing for Sadio on the night.
Naby Keita (CM) – 7/10
In for Salah in the 64th minute. Back from the injury had a decent game with some good touches and passing accuracy.
Joe Gomez (CB) – 7/10
In for Mane at the same time as Keita. He too returned back from an injury had a decent game. Looking for more game time, Gomez can make a move away from the Reds according to the rumours in the air.
Fabinho (CDM) – N/A
In for the ‘legend’ Origi in the 79th minute.
Max Woltman – N/A
Made his debut, in for Minamino at the 90th-minute mark.
Conor Bradley – N/A
In for Neco Willams just for the stoppage time.
Subs not used: Kelleher, Davies, Matip, Robertson, Alexander-Arnold, Norris, Dixon-Bonner
Liverpool is my Religion and Anfield is my Church. 17th May 1996 the date I had my blood coloured red. The one you love the most you can not live without it and that is football to me.
