Joe Gomez might be on his way to Aston Villa this January as per Football Fancast. The reason for this move is for him to get back into England’s squad for the World Cup next year. Every football player dreams about playing for his nation. And what could be a bigger event than the World Cup?

As we move closer to the World Cup next year in Qatar, every player would have their eyes on it. The Liverpool centre back has toiled for his first-team appearance after a revival from a serious knee injury. Boss Jurgen Klopp has now considered him as fourth-choice ahead of new signing, Ibrahima Konate.

Earlier, Joe Gomez was a regular starter in the Liverpool squad, especially during their title-winning days. He made 28 appearances in the Premier League and 43 appearances across all competitions. Unfortunately, his injury in the last year has degraded his starts for the Reds.

Thus, he has lost his place in the playing XI making only three starts with none in the league. This seems to be a big worry for the English defender as he looks to bounce back. As time goes by, we will get to know the fate of Joe Gomez.

Gomez might work under the Liverpool legend at Villa park next year

Newly appointed Aston Villa manager and former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has kept his eyes on Joe Gomez. Many believe that Joe Gomez might be the perfect fit to solidify Aston Villa’s defence. Since he is so versatile, he will definitely improve their defence structure.

Jurgen Klopp has spoken positively about the central defender but currently has no place for him in his starting eleven. Klopp is also grateful for the competition provided by Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate. This will boost the spirit to fight for the starting spot in the team.

Meanwhile, Gareth Southgate has his four firm centre back option already in place. John Stones, Harry Maguire, Tyrone Mings and Conor Coady are the ones on his list. While Ben White is also in contention to try and squeeze in if possible. Thus, the competition looks to be severe. If Joe Gomez has to make it to Qatar next year, he needs to become a regular starter as soon as possible.
