As Liverpool and Manchester United prepare to lock horns this weekend, the stage is set for what could be both clubs’ biggest test of the season. Liverpool have come out of the gates strong, winning their opening two games without so much as a defensive hiccup.

Meanwhile, Manchester United… well, let’s just say they have had a bit of a wobble, losing to Brighton and scraping by Fulham by the skin of their teeth. Not exactly the stuff of champions.

Given the form book, you might think Liverpool are clear favorites here. But, as anyone who’s ever watched a heated match like this, will tell you, form can be as useful as a chocolate teapot in these kinds of matches.

Liverpool set to “Absolutely Do a Job” on Manchester United

Enter Troy Deeney, the former Watford striker turned pundit, who’s decided to throw his hat in the ring with a prediction that’s sure to ruffle a few feathers over at Old Trafford.

The former Watford striker shared his verdict on how this one will go.

“Biggest game of the weekend. I think the way Liverpool have started, they have been flying. Salah is off to the races, Van Dijk looks like a Rolls-Royce as always, and Trent is flying as well, Jota looks the nine.”

Deeney said,

“This is a perfect game for Man U, though, having said all that, because they get to be at home and sit behind the ball and counter-attack.

“I think, I am going to get in trouble for this, I think Liverpool will absolutely do a job on them. They have got so much pace, but Man U have looked more structurally sound. I am going to go 3-1 Liverpool.”

Ouch.

It is not hard to see why Deeney is leaning towards a Liverpool win. The Reds are in fine form. While United look like they are still trying to find the on switch for their season.

Liverpool have taken United apart before. And if Deeney’s prediction is anything to go by, we might be in for another dismantling this weekend.

So, will Deeney be proven right? Or id this the kind of prediction that will come back to bite him? Either way, it is going to be one heck of a game.
