Trent Alexander-Arnold & Andy Robertson have now provided 100+ assists for Liverpool. Here we look at the amazing numbers behind this achievement of ‘The Wingbacks.’

The total is now 103 with the most recent being, Andy Robertson who assisted twice in the clash against Crystal Palace.

The Liverpool duo reached this milestone against Arsenal in the League Cup semi-final. Trent has contributed to 57 assists in 204 appearances while Robertson has assisted 46 times in 201 appearances.

Trent and Robertson: The assist kings

The Liverpool duo has made a blistering start to the season. As, Trent sits at the top of the assists chart in the Premier League while Robertson is third, behind Mo Salah.

Trent has been most prolific against Arsenal. Assisting seven times against the Gunners while Robertson has targeted Crystal Palace with 7 assists. Sadio Mane has received eleven assists from Trent, which is the highest for any Liverpool player. Mo Salah has received eight, Diogo Jota has seven and Virgil van Dijk has received six assists.

Trent has assisted 15 different Liverpool players. Arguably, Trent’s most famous assist came against Barcelona for Divock Origi’s goal. Yes, it is the corner that was taken quickly.

Meanwhile, Andy Robertson has teed up Mo Salah nine times, Sadio Mane eight and Roberto Firmino seven times. Diogo Jota and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have enjoyed Robertson’s assists five times. Additionally, Andy Robertson has assisted 16 different players in a Liverpool shirt.

Where do they stand?

Both Trent and Robertson have done incredibly well for Liverpool. They are probably one of the best in the world in their respective positions but they have quite a way to go break through the all-time assist charts. The Liverpool duo has 43 assists each in the Premier League and is only behind Firmino in third (45), Steve McManaman (58) in second and Steven Gerrard in first position (92) for Liverpool.

To break into the Premier League’s all-time assist charts, the duo needs 80 assists. The rate at which they are going, it’s certainly possible. Moreover, Trent is only 23 years old and Robertson is also only 27. In fact, ‘The Wingbacks’ could even overtake Roberto Carlos (122) and Dani Alves (170), provided they have similarly long careers.

Whatever be the case, the Liverpool full-backs have certainly staked the claim as the most electric attacking players in world football regardless of position.

(We hope they remain so)
