Top 10 Liverpool FC players with the most assists
Every goal requires a creator, and Liverpool has some of the best playmakers. These are the top 10 Liverpool FC players with the most assists.
10. Mohamed Salah – 58
Given his incredible sum of goals, the number of assists Salah recorded while in Liverpool is often overlooked. He has the highest goal-to-assist ratio (96) than anyone on this list. In the 2021/22 season, Salah scored more goals (13) than any other player in the Premier League. This is a feat that awarded him the Playmaker Award for the season. He is in 10th place on this list with 58 assists in 254 appearances in the club, but we expect he will move further up by the time he finishes his stint in Anfield.
9. Trent Alexander-Arnold – 61
At just 23 years old, in the early stages of his Liverpool career, Alexander Arnold appreciates his potential to be at the top of the list for the next few years. Not surprisingly, he is the only defender on this list. Alexander Arnold has registered 19 assists in all 2021/22 tournaments. This is his best aggregate ever and continues to redefine the modern role of a right back. Truly, a footballing unicorn.
8. Steve Heighway – 66
Heighway was one of the best entertainers to wear a Liverpool shirt. He provided most of his assists during the 1971/72 and 1972/1973 seasons when the ‘Flying Winger’ was at the peak of his power.
He has formed unforgettable partnerships with John Toshack, Kevin Keegan and others, and won five league titles among many other awards while at his club.
7. Roberto Firmino – 67
Another of the outstanding performers from the Jurgen Klopp era, Firmino was perhaps the unsung hero in the iconic attacking trio he formed alongside Salah and Sadio Mane. He has played an unselfish role at the heart of a devastating attack that would not have functioned in the same way without his magical attributes. With 67 assists in 327 appearances, Firmino places himself among the best creators in the club’s history – and he’s not yet done.

6. Kevin Keegan – 72
Keegan, who reached 72 assists in six seasons, is considered one of the very best to grace Anfield. Keegan formed an iconic “big and small” partnership with Toshack, and the pair scored a total of 45 goals.
He will go down in history as one of the most aggressive players to decorate his red shirt.
5. Ian Rush – 84
As the highest scorer in history with an astonishing 346 goals, Ian Rush’s time at the club, as well as his recklessness in front of the goal, is fondly remembered. But his playmaking is often overlooked. With 84 assists in the incredible 15 seasons at the club. His partnership with Kenny Dalglish is widely regarded as the best forward duo in Reds history.
4. Steve McManaman – 85
McManaman is one of the craftiest wingers to play for Liverpool, and it’s no wonder he’s at the top of this list. He scored 10 goals in the 1995/96 season, and 20 out of 85 assists for Liverpool. He formed a great partnership with Robbie Fowler after the pair grew together at Melwood.
3. John Barnes – 101
Burns is another legendary Liverpool winger and one of only three players who have registered more than 100 assists with the Reds. The former English forward gave defenders a nightmare with his pace and tricks, scoring 108 goals and 101 assists for the club.
2. Steven Gerrard – 145
Gerrard is Liverpool’s second-best playmaker with 145 assists in 710 appearances. The former Reds captain had an incredible range and vision. He was also a set-piece specialist. In short, Gerrard did a lot.
1. Kenny Dalglish – 166
The player who scored the most goals in Liverpool’s history. Can anyone break Dalglish’s record? Having built legendary partnerships with Rush, David Johnson, Terry McDermott and others, King Kenny scored a whopping 166 assists in 515 games, not to mention his 172 goals.
