The Reds transfer round-up: Dembele ‘offer made’ with a fourth deal to be completed

The Reds have stated they won’t be adding any players this summer. But nothing could be further from the truth as reports suggest they have continued to link them to a wide range of players.

Liverpool’s summer transfer window got off to an exciting start. They have completed the signing of three new players and the departure of long-serving forward Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich.

The Reds have lately refuted any interest in Porto winger Otavio. But rumours claim that they have “made an offer” for Ousmane Dembele. And an intriguing teenager is expected to sign next month. There have been rumours of a second swap agreement with Naby Keita elsewhere.

The second Keita swap deal being considered

Naby Keita is approaching the end of his current contract and talks over his future at Anfield have not yet started. This is despite earlier rumours suggesting that the Reds would prioritize it once the preseason started.

Following rumours that Liverpool will use Keita in a “player-plus-cash” deal to recruit Nico Barella from Inter Milan in an effort to lower his £77 million asking price. A new report suggests that Liverpool might use him in a swap deal for a different player.

Calciomercato claims that Liverpool may trade for Adrien Rabiot. He has stated his intention to leave Turin this summer. Liverpool can get Rabiot by offering Keita to Juventus. According to reports, both players are worth £17 million, and neither team would be charged a transfer fee.

Reds ‘made an offer’ for Dembele

Liverpool may assert that their summer spending is complete. But since the start of the January transfer window, the Reds have been linked with a move for Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele. Now, a report claims that Jurgen Klopp’s team has “made an offer” for the Frenchman.

According to Spanish news outlet Sport via Paisley Gates, Liverpool are one of five teams to make an offer to sign Dembele as a free agent. His contract situation at Camp Nou has not yet been addressed beyond the conclusion of the 2021/22 season.

Despite the forward’s dismal performance in Spain after arriving from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 for a whopping €105 million-plus and a further €40 million in add-ons. And the Catalan club is still hopeful of keeping hold of him. Moreover, he went on to score 32 goals in 150 games for FC Barcelona in all competitions (Stats via whoscored.com).
