Liverpool youngster Stefan Bajcetic has earned himself a new contract after an impressive pre-season.

The 17-year-old did play in five of the Reds’ six preseason games. He was able to log 189 minutes of playing while receiving high praise from more experienced players and coaches.

As compensation for his outstanding summer in the No. 6 position, Bajcetic was then chosen on the Fulham bench.

The young player has quickly risen to prominence since joining in February 2021. He went on signing his first professional contract in November and now committing to a new term.

On Instagram, he broke the news and wrote, “Happy to extend my contract with a great club. The struggle continues!

Adrian and Tyler Morton, as well as fellow academy members Luke Chambers, Harvey Davies, Layton Stewart, and Isaac Mabaya, sent messages of congratulations in response to Bajcetic’s tweet.

The 17-year-old, who was bought as a centre-back but is of Serbian ancestry, is currently advancing in the No. 6 position.

He was seen playing in that position during the preseason. And Vitor Matos was optimistic about what he saw and what was to come.

Stefan is a really well-balanced No. 6. And while he still has a lot of room for improvement, he is currently in a really excellent place, according to Matos.

The contract is a reward for Bajcetic’s preseason efforts. And this season, he might make his competitive first-team debut.

Stefan Bajcetic: The rising star

In February 2021, Stefan Bajcetic moved from Celta Vigo to Liverpool.

He had a standout 2021–22 season, making his Premier League 2 debut for the U21s and competing in the UEFA Youth League. But it was cut short by an injury that kept him out for the final three months of the season.

Bajcetic recovered, though. And he was a part of the first team delegation on the preseason tour of Asia in July 2022.
