Liverpool confirms new Harvey Elliott contract until 2027
Harvey Elliott has renewed his contract with Liverpool through the summer of 2027, the club has confirmed
The 19-year-old Harvey Elliot has proven himself as a regular member of Jurgen Klopp’s first-team squad. This is great after recovering from his devastating ankle injury from last season,
Elliott was only able to make 11 senior appearances in all competitions last season. But he did score the club’s first goal against Cardiff City in the FA Cup.
In 22 appearances while wearing a Liverpool jersey, the former Fulham youngster has one goal and two assists to his name. On Saturday’s 2-2 tie with his previous team, he came off the bench.
Elliott was thought to be getting a contract extension on Thursday morning. And Liverpool has now announced that the kid has signed new terms.
Elliott told Liverpoolfc.com about how nice it is to know that he is going to be here for many more years. And it is making him happier than ever to be in his boyhood club. He continued on his rollercoaster ride with the club:
“We’ve already won so much, and hopefully, we can win so much more. So just to know that I am going to be here for a long time again. As I said, it’s always a wonderful feeling for myself and my family [and] being Liverpool supporters. And there is no better place in this world to be than playing for Liverpool and to put the shirt on and go out and play for the team and the fans. I’m hoping there are many more memories to come with it, but I’m just so excited to put pen to paper and stay here for a lot longer.”
Klopp on Harvey Elliott & his contract extension
Klopp was also really happy about this extension. He really likes the idea of Elliot continuing at the club. For Harvey, he gets to carry on developing, improving, and hopefully fulfilling his incredible talent at the club he has always supported.
He continued:
“Harvey got a big knock last season. But, like all of the experiences he has had so far, he used it to grow as a person and a player. It was always obvious that he was a good footballer but taking the next steps was always going to be about using information and experiences to grow. And this is exactly what Harvey is doing. Now it is all about carrying on enjoying his football as much as we enjoy watching him develop. It is an exciting time for him and for us.”
Elliott joins a lengthy list of Liverpool players who have recently extended their contracts. This is including Mohamed Salah, James Milner, Joe Gomez, Diogo Jota, and Stefan Bajcetic.
Amid Thiago Alcantara and Alex Oxlade-extended Chamberlain’s absences, the midfielder, who tallied seven goals and 11 assists in 42 games for Blackburn Rovers during a loan spell in 2021. He would seek to gain more opportunities in the attacking third.
As Liverpool supporters want Klopp to bring in a new midfielder, Curtis Jones and Naby Keita are both on the road to recovery from injuries and illnesses, respectively.
Elliott may start alongside Fabinho and Jordan Henderson at Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Monday. This match is important as the Reds look to earn their first victory of the current top-flight campaign on the second try.
Last season, the England Under-21 international began matches against Burnley, Chelsea, and Leeds United before going to the dressing room. In the last game week of the campaign, he made one more Premier League start against Southampton.
