Prior to Saturday’s match against Brighton, James Milner returned to Liverpool training, although there are questions over the availability of Darwin Nunez. Will Nunez feature for the Reds against Brighton?

This weekend, the Reds will travel to Sussex to face a Brighton team that is on the rise and is only two points behind them in the Premier League standings. The Reds need back-to-back wins to dream of themselves in the top 4. And winning against Brighton would be just as important as winning the rest of the league games.

The unavailability of Darwin Nunez at the AXA Training Centre

Their trip to the Amex comes after yet another disappointing FA Cup defeat to Wolves and in the midst of Jurgen Klopp’s continuous injury issue.

Eight players were absent from Liverpool’s training session on Thursday, two days before the game, owing to fitness concerns, while two other players were under suspicion. Along with loanee Marcelo Pitaluga and youngster Kaide Gordon, long-term absentees include Virgil van Dijk, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, and Arthur.

Nunez and Curtis Jones, the latter of whom played 45 minutes for the under-21s on Saturday, were both absent from the Liverpool team photo during their practice at the AXA Training Center.

Nunez’s participation at the weekend is in peril despite the fact that he has been missing for a number of days with an undisclosed ailment, even though it is “not unduly serious.”

Klopp’s issue with his best forwards

The absence of four of Klopp’s senior forwards would be a major issue if Nunez was to go injured. Meanwhile, Roberto Firmino is still out. Although he declared himself healthy for the Brentford match on January 2. And Stefan Bajcetic is now out with a slight injury.

This season, only Mohamed Salah has appeared on every single occasion. Cody Gakpo trained and might make his Premier League debut on Saturday. If Nunez is sidelined, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is the most likely starter. Fabio Carvalho, Ben Doak, and birthday boy Melkamu Frauendorf all practiced.

Milner makes his comeback after missing three weeks due to a hamstring injury, and he will strengthen a midfield position that is already rather strong.
