It was a cracking start to the New Year for Liverpool & Chelsea as they collided in an intense battle, let’s have a look at the match highlights.
A blockbuster event was on the cards, which lived up to its expectations. With Chelsea and Liverpool battling to close the gap with City, it was an important game in the title race. The kick-off saw a high intense start as Sadio Mane was in question to receive a red card just after 20 seconds into the game. Moreover, as the game progressed the intensity kept increasing.
Thus, this resulted in Chalobah making a mistake which eventually led to gifting the ball to Mane, who gave the Reds an early lead into the game. Moving on, Liverpool were always looking dangerous while they were steaming for a counterattack. On the other hand, for Chelsea, it was more of keeping the position. While running on the right wing was Mohamed Salah, who scored a beautiful goal from a tight angle to beat Mendy on the near post and gave Liverpool a two-goal cushion.
Meanwhile, the Blues fans were fired-up seeing their side 2 goals down on their home turf. Thus, Chelsea started their attack, resulting in two back to back excellent goals. Meaning it was all square after the first half in a thrilling encounter.
While in the latter half of the game, Chelsea were looking more organized and dangerous. However, both the teams had their chances in the game but both were unable to find the winner. Thus, it ended as yet another draw for Liverpool in the Premier League.
It was a game for closing down the gap with the leaders but it eventually resulted in increasing it.
