Goalkeepers & Defenders
Alisson Becker (GK) – 8/10
The Brazilian stopper was alert for every Arsenal threat. He did a phenomenal job to close down Lacazette and then save from Odegaard soon after the restart.
Alisson’s awareness and decision-making was at top-notch, overall cool and calm performance by the Reds No.1
Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB) – 7/10
Right at the start of the game, it was known Trent’s direct personal battle will be against Arsenal’s Martinelli. The Brazilian did give him a tough time defending at times.
But his set-piece/crossing delivery was superb.
Joel Matip (CB) – 8/10
Matip kept his cool head on him and made sure Liverpool doesn’t concede. For every Gunner’s attack, Matip kept it simple and progressive.
With Trent Alexander Arnold struggling against Martinelli, Matip made sure he was there at the right place at the right time to keep the clean sheet.
Virgil van Dijk (CB) – 8/10
Particularly in the first half Arsenal made some direct balls to Saka. The big Dutchman did very well covering runs in behind from Saka.
Similar to Matip, Van Dijk was always at the right place and the right time. He is a world-class defender we all know that, but the work he does is so soothing to watch.
Andrew Robertson (LB) – 7.5/10 (Man of the Match)
Robertson ended the game with a sublime assist for Firmino. But the Scotsman spent far time on against Saka who was a threat.
Liverpool No. 26 exhibited a balanced performance of the offensive and defensive display.
Midfielders
Fabinho (CM) – 8/10
The Brazilian had a good outing at the Emirates. His perfect interceptions and tackles gave the Reds a solid foundation.
He did not put a foot wrong, as shielded the Liverpool backline in every possible way.
Jordan Henderson (CM) – 6.5/10
The captain wasn’t at his best in the first half. But in the second half, however, he produced assuring display.
Henderson made he absorbed everything Arsenal had thrown at him, eventually coming out victorious.
Thiago Alcantara (CM)- 7/10
Just like Henderson, Thiago didn’t have much to offer in the first half. Also his lack of concentration while giving the back pass put the team into a panic situation. But thankfully Arsenal being Arsenal didn’t take the chance to score.
But soon after the Spaniard delivered a lovely thorough ball to find Jota, who eventually scored the opening goal.
Forwards
Diogo Jota (ST) – 7/10
Jota completely lacked the form after his return from injury. He didn’t look threatening and lost the ball couple of times. But as soon as Klopp decided to make a change, the Portuguese scored from his last kick of the game.
Moreover, his celebration after the goal certainly tells he was clearly telling everyone he’s still a threat.
Sadio Mane (LW) – 6/10
Sadio Mane was a threat for the Arsenal backline, but he didn’t manage to take those opportunities. He wasn’t at his brilliant best.
Got in behind a couple of times, even having a goal chalked off for offside.
Luis Diaz (RW) – 6/10
Diaz had a quiet outing this time. His work rate was superb at times, and when Arsenal players pressured him the South American showed his class to get out of the pressure situation.
But definitely lacked the end product. He was substituted soon after Liverpool scored the first goal.
Perhaps the substitution was harsh, we feel.
Substitutes
Mohamed Salah (RW) – 6/10
The Egyptian didn’t impact the game as he would have wanted. He had some good one-on-one plays but mostly it was quite a night for Salah.
Roberto Firmino (ST) – 7.5/10
It was good to see Firmino back. And the goal he scored he scored is what Bobby is known for.
A very nice clever and cutest finish from the six-yard to score Liverpool’s second of the night. Moreover, his pressing and work rate off the ball was good.

The young Scouser received a couple of minutes right at the death.
