Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch is willing to leave the German champions and move to Liverpool this summer, as per Fabrizio Romano.
Liverpool have been long wanted to move for the Dutch midfielder ever since he shone at Ajax.
However, the strong-build midfielder chose Bayern over the PL club and is now frustrated over the lack of minutes.
This could play to the advantage of Klopp and his men as it is reported that the 21-year-old is pushing to join Liverpool over the summer.
The Italian journalist took on Twitter (Now know as ‘X’) to confirm the Reds’ interest in the midfielder.
After a high number of exits in the midfield position this summer, Klopp has brought in reinforcements in the form of Mac Allister and Szoboszlai.
However, with the ever-present Henderson leaving, the club needs to find his replacement as well. Additionally, they need to replace the versatile Fabinho.
But, the Reds haven’t acted upon their midfield targets with the new PL season kicking off the next week.
Even though Romeo Lavia appears to be the number one priority, the Saints are playing hard in the transfer game.
They have already rejected 2 of Liverpool’s bids and are expected to receive a third bid soon.
Moreover, Liverpool also aren’t ready to budge as they look to close the deal for less than the asking £50m.
However, with Gravenberch, the club and player have been ready for quite a while now but Bayern are reluctant to let go of the talented Dutch midfielder.
‘Liverpool 100% like Ryan Gravenberch’: Fabrizio
Romano confirmed Liverpool’s interest in the player.
“They love [Ryan] Gravenberch, 100%. It’s about the director [Jorg Schmadtke], it’s about Jurgen Klopp. They really, really like the player and the player is open to the idea of making a move. So, Ryan Gravenberch wants to speak to Bayern again to clarify his position.
What I can say is that Bayern are still in the same position in June, July and also now in August. They don’t want to sell the player, so they are sure that Ryan Gravenberch is going to be a top star of the position in the future. It’s not an easy conversation with Bayern when they say no. The only way to make it happen is on the player’s side.
So, if the player goes there and says, ‘OK, sell me because I don’t want to stay here’. At the moment, the player is concerned with the current situation because he wants to be a starter, he wants to be an important player, a regular starter.
But, at the moment he didn’t go there and say, ‘Let me go’. It’s still something that’s in the early stages between Gravenberch and Bayern and at the moment Liverpool can only wait. It makes no sense to submit proposals or start negotiations if Bayern don’t want to sell.”
Gravenberch being willing to join Liverpool isn’t going to be enough to get a deal over the line this summer.
Bayern appears to be working hard on a deal for Harry Kane but won’t want outgoings complicating their business this month.
Gravenberch could be the latest young midfielder to join Liverpool but is already a senior international.
It will be interesting to see if the Merseysiders could bring in a new midfielder before their opening Premier League game against Chelsea.
