Neco Williams ‘nearly wonder-strike’ and Liverpool loanees shine
Liverpool loanee Neco Williams almost bagged a goalazo from the half-way line but struck the crossbar. Elsewhere, Liverpool’s loanees excelled.
Neco Williams’ performance
Neco Williams has brought his A-game to Fulham. The youngster has started in six successive league games since making his temporary switch at the end of January.
Williams almost scored an audacious goal from the halfway line against the high-flying Blackburn Rovers. He launched an opportunistic attempt at the goal when he saw goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski off his line. However, he agonizingly struck the crossbar. Neeskens Kebano and ex-Red Harry Wilson were the duos that scored, that gave the Cottagers the win.
Manager Marco Silva impressed at his attempt, said:
It would have been a fantastic goal, only capable by players in my opinion of high, high quality.
He’s settled really well and he’s always open to learn and knows he has to work really hard.
In another fixture, Sepp van den Berg‘s Preston beat Nat Phillips ‘Bournemouth, with the former getting the bragging rights in the end with a 2-1 win. Nat Phillips played really well at the back and almost scored a diving header but Preston’s two goals kept them in the hunt for the playoff spots.
In League 2 Paul Glatzel made his return from injury when he came off the bench for Tranmere in a 3-2 loss to Northampton. Meanwhile, Jake Cain’s run of starting position continued with Newport with his third start in four league games in their latest win.
Vitezslav Jaros, Jakub Ojrzynski, and Liam Hughes all started for their respective sides, with only Ojrzynski on the winning side and with a clean sheet.
