Mo Salah joins the top 10 by registering another record for the Reds

The Egyptian international latched on a brilliant long ball from Alisson and calmly slotted it past Norwich City’s goalkeeper Angus Gunn.

Not only did his goal against Norwich break a record, but also kept the Reds in contention for the title. They are now six points behind Manchester City with one game in hand against Leeds during midweek.

The 29-year-old also happens to be the second-fastest player to reach 150 goals, behind only the great Roger Hunt. Compared to Mo Salah’s 232 games, Hunt achieved the feet in 226.

Salah’s journey to 150 goals has not only been an amazing one, but also a surprising one. Not many expected Mo Salah to score so many goals in such a short time.

According to Klopp,

The first was at Watford (in August 2017) was probably the easiest. No-one could imagine when he scored the first that he could score 149 in such a short period of time.

Mo Salah just needs nine more goals to climb the ladder and become the eighth highest goalscorer in Liverpool history. He will be overtaking Harry Chambers and the 2001 Ballon D’or winner Micheal Owen.

Nine goals in the remaining games is not a very difficult task for one of the best players in the world. If he does sign a new contract and continue scoring, even Steven Gerrard’s 186 goals is an achievable task for Mo Salah.

This feat of his has only made his importance to the team more obvious. Liverpool fans around the globe will be hoping he signs a new deal soon.

  • Ian Rush – 346 goals
