Luis Diaz agent addresses interest from Liverpool
Liverpool are eyeing to add an attacker into the squad and Luis Diaz looks like an ideal fit in Jurgen Klopp’s style of play.
Some reports suggest that the Reds are looking to bring in Diaz in the January window. With Salah and Mane’s absence for AFCON in January, there will be a big hole to fill in, and bringing a versatile attacker like Diaz looks like the solution.
Portuguese outlet Jornal de Notícias claims Liverpool have eyes on Luis Diaz. Jurgen Klopp sees him as an ideal January signing, capable of covering the absences of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
Meanwhile, Diaz’s agent believes the interest being shown in the player from the likes of Liverpool is “normal” given his current form.
The 24-year-old caught the eyes of many during Copa America last summer. He became a joint top scorer alongside Messi to help Colombia finish third.
The Porto winger has already registered nine goals in 11 games in the Portuguese topflight. Diaz has also been impressive in Europe scoring against Atletico and Milan in Champions League outings.
Luis Diaz to Liverpool, is it a real possibility ?
A versatile attacker who can play on both flanks but thrives as a left-winger. The Colombian is well on his way to becoming a household name for football fans.
The Reds had a quiet summer recruiting-wise, with Ibrahima Konate being the only signing. However, it seems Liverpool could make at least one addition as the January window draws closer.
It is known to all that Liverpool are looking to bring in a quality attacker in the squad not only to fill the void of Salah and Mane in January but also to add quality depth and prepare for the future.
According to Calciomercato reports, those in command on Merseyside admire Diaz and see him as a potential option in the mid-season window.
Meanwhile, according to reports, Porto manager Sérgio Conceição has asked Diaz not to leave Porto mid-way in the season.
Reports in Portuguese newspaper Correiro da Manhã, state that the Porto manager has asked the forward to stay until the end of the season at least.
The 24-year-old has a release clause of 67.5 million meaning Liverpool may have to spend big to land him in January. It’s hard to believe Liverpool Board will sanction this move for Salah and Mane’s backup.
A January move looks unlikely given the transfer fee for the Porto Forward. Even though The Reds needs someone like Diaz into the squad.
