Klopp provides injury update as Liverpool set to face Arsenal without key players

Jurgen Klopp has given an injury update ahead of their League clash on Saturday as Liverpool set to host Arsenal.

The Reds will be lacking majority of their players this weekend due to the international break, including Henderson, Mane, and Robertson.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have not lost a single match in their past ten games, and Klopp is hopeful his injury list will trim by then.

A calf injury for Gomez and an eye injury for Curtis keeps both the players unavailable for the selection. Gomez is still in his recovery stage whereas, Jones will be missing a few more weeks.

The German insisted that Gomez is “clearly still not available,” who was missing the previous two games. While Milner, Keita, and Firmino are all “coming closer,” though none of the three will play against Arsenal.

The boss said;

Naby and James are in a good way as well, getting closer. Bobby [is] getting closer but not for the weekend. We’ll see, that will take a little bit longer still.

The trio is expected to make their return next week for the clash against Porto in the Champions League.

Liverpool injury update after the International Break

Harvey Elliott remains a long time absentee, who is making quick progress on his ankle injury. Milner, Keita and Firmino are all suffering from hamstring problems. Seeing that Gomez’s “rehab” isn’t complete and Jones is “still healing” from a freak eye injury sustained in a training collision, it’s likely that he they’ll take time to recover.

Meanwhile, Henderson’s problem is “a wee bit significant” than Robertson’s, but he has a “chance for the weekend” and will be “100 per cent” after that, indicating that he may start against Porto next week.

Robertson is the most likely to return, followed by Henderson, and stating the obvious, the chronology of returnees may be Milner, Keita, Firmino, and Jones before Gomez.

Throughout the midfield, Fabinho, Thiago, and Oxlade-Chamberlain / Henderson are expected to start on Saturday. Whereas Klopp is unlikely to take a chance at Robertson with Kostas Tsimikas filling in at left-back.

While Diogo Jota will play upfront in Firmino’s absence, with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane supporting him.
