Crazy, like there was a witch in the building,’ says Liverpool boss regarding his players’ injuries.

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp joked that a “witch” was cursing members of his squad. After Monday’s 1-1 Premier League draw with Crystal Palace in the post-match press conference.

15th August 2022 marked the 30th anniversary of the Premier League which started on 15th august 1992. The Anniversary game of the Premier League took place at Anfield where the Reds hosted Crystal place for the match week 2 fixture of the new 2022/23 season.

Liverpool had a sloppy start as they had to come back twice at Craven Cottage to salvage a point in the 2-2 draw against Fulham. The Eagles hosted the gunners as the first fixture of the new season and they lost 2 – 0.

A witch inside the building of Liverpool

While both the teams wanted to perform at their level best at the anniversary game. Moreover, the teams were trying to register their first win of the season. The Reds have already faced numerous injury issues in the early stages of this new season. Before the Eagles visit to Merseyside, they gathered a few more concerns to the list. As Joel Matip suffered a groin injury in training and was ruled out. While Roberto Firmino sat out as a precaution.

Along with these two Diogo Jota, Thiago Alcantara, Ibrahima Konate, Caoimhin Kelleher, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Curtis Jones and Calvin Ramsay are part of Liverpool’s current injury list.

After their 1 – 1 draw at home against Palace. Liverpool’s boss spoke about the Supernatural entity’s curse on his team.

The week was crazy; I have experienced a lot of weeks but that was like we had a witch in the building. Honestly, like every day somebody else pulled out of training for the craziest reasons,

Joel will be two weeks. We will see with that. In the end, Joey didn’t start. Nat did really well, I have to say, but Joey didn’t start because he only trained yesterday again. At the start of the week, he had a little issue.

Bobby couldn’t make it. Hendo this morning, we got the information there was a little concern about something if he plays too long, so he didn’t play that long. That’s the situation. It was not too cool, but then the game we made of it I really liked it – I really liked the game. That’s how it is.

We want to fight and I saw that a lot, and we played really good stuff. So, a lot of good performances and I liked it, but that’s it now. We drew, let’s carry on.

Liverpool had a brilliant dominance of the game and created more chances than any other premier league side this season. But the Reds failed to find the finishing that they needed. Saha opened up the scoring for the Eagles in the first half. Luis Diaz’s brilliant solo goal gave the Merseyside giants the equaliser before their record signing was sent off after head-butting the opponent defender.

With Jota injured and Nunez red-carded, Firmino has to stay in form and shape as he is the only forward in the side and Liverpool will face their fierce Premier League rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford on 22nd August 2022.
