Liverpool head coach Arne Slot is now prioritizing his tactical plans for Trent Alexander-Arnold ignoring the vice-captain’s contract situation. Alexander-Arnold’s future with the Reds is hanging in the balance currently. But manager Arne Slot has decided to keep his mind concentrated on integrating Trent into his playing style.
Alexander-Arnold has returned for pre-season with just 11 months left on his contract. With no concrete signs of renewal, the right-back’s contract situation is snatching the fans’ sleep at night.
While there is no evidence of his departure, persistent links to a transfer to Real Madrid are not good news for the Liverpool fans either.

One can hope that Alexander-Arnold will sign a new contract after discussions upon his return. But the reality is far more complicated than that.
Slot reached out to his No. 66 earlier this summer. But even he could not deliver any guarantees about the contract negotiations.
Instead, he decided to focus on the exciting role Trent could play under his regime.
Slot All Vague Regarding Alexander-Arnold
But speaking to journalists including the Mail‘s Lewis Steele, the head coach explained,
“Can’t wait to see him train.
We didn’t speak about his commitment.
We only spoke about the way I wanted him to play and how he could fit in that style.
He was focused on the Euros at that moment we spoke and I saw some clips from people showing me that he looks really fit and sharp. I can’t wait to see him train.
But some others did quite well [on tour] as well so it is interesting to see if the others come back and the level goes up even more.”
It is clear that Slot has a well-thought (hopefully) plan for Alexander-Arnold. We may expect that there will be progress in contract talks with Trent’s representative, his brother Tyler, in the coming weeks.
Still, a question lingers: Is Slot dodging the complicated contract issue of Trent Alexander-Arnold by shifting focus to tactics and playing style? Is it a camouflage?
