Liverpool are interested in Celtic’s Matt O’Riley, but Brendan Rodgers emphasizes his value and suggests Celtic might sell for the right price.

Liverpool Target O’Riley

Liverpool have shown interest in Celtic star Matt O’Riley, following his impressive performance last season where he contributed 19 goals and 18 assists in 49 appearances, helping Celtic secure the Scottish League and Cup double.

Despite this interest, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers remains calm about the situation, particularly as Atalanta’s two bids for the midfielder were rejected.

Liverpool, among other clubs, have been credited with interest in O’Riley as the summer transfer window progresses.

Rogers’ Return

Rodgers, who returned to manage Celtic last summer, has acknowledged the interest in O’Riley but emphasized that every player has value and hinted that Celtic might sell for the right price.

During the club’s pre-season trip to America, Rodgers expressed his views on the situation, highlighting O’Riley’s importance to the team and his commitment to developing the player further while he remains at Celtic.

The former Liverpool manager’s comments indicate a balanced approach, weighing the player’s value and potential offers.

The Celtic Boss

Speaking via the Daily Record, Rodgers said,

“We’re all quite relaxed about it. Every player has a value but we see him as a really important player and while he’s here we’ll continue to develop him and improve. He’s working so well but there’s nothing to report on him.

I think we all understand the people close to Celtic understand the model Celtic works.”

Rodgers’ remarks reflect his confidence in O’Riley’s professionalism and dedication, acknowledging the challenges Celtic face in competing financially with bigger Premier League clubs but appreciating the player’s commitment and the privilege of playing for Celtic.
