Liverpool are now trying to sign young midfielder Dan Neil from Championship club Sunderland on the transfer deadline day.
On the final day of the summer transfer window, the Anfield giants still await their fourth signing.
For the past few weeks, Ryan Gravenberch has been the main target for the club and they will be completing a deal before the 11 pm deadline today.
The Merseysiders so far had a good transfer window with players leaving the club and new players joining. They now only need another signing to complete the midfield rebuild that they intended to do.
Amid all this, the latest report should definitely stir up some conversations at Anfield.

Liverpool to sign Sunderland star Dan Neil?
According to a new report by journalist Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider, the Reds might try signing the young English midfielder from Championship side Sunderland AFC.
The 21-year-old has risen through the ranks of Sunderland youth academy and has appeared in the senior outfit on 110 occasions.
Last season he appeared in 50 matches across all competitions for the Black Cats where he scored 2 goals and assisted 4 goals. He has been a regular starter for the Wearsiders.
In this season he has started in all 5 games and scored once and assisted 1 goal. The report stated that Crystal Palace, Brentford, and Burnley are also growing interest in the player.
For Liverpool, his signing could mean a lot more depth-enhancing. The former England U-20 international has already established himself as an important player in the team and the Merseysiders would try to do the same.
Moreover, the Anfield giants already have a very good relationship with Sunderland. The club signed former Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson from there in the summer of 2011.
The English midfielder still has 3 years left in his contract. So it would remain to see how LFC approaches this deal.
Would he become a successor of Henderson, only time can tell if so.
