Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs Fulham
Liverpool to kick start their Premier League campaign against newly promoted Fulham as they visit Craven Cottage, here is the Reds’ team news.
We are almost there, as Premier League season 2022-23 is about to start this weekend. Liverpool once again faces a newly promoted side on an opening matchday, for the third season in a row.
Klopp’s side will make a visit to West London to face Marco Silva’s Fulham at Craven Cottage in a Saturday lunchtime kick-off.
However, before going into the game, the Reds’ boss faces the team’s selection dilemma for the weekend’s game.
The German has had to deal with a number of injury issues during pre-season. Furthermore, Klopp is not without injury concerns ahead of opening day.

Liverpool Team – Injuries:
Diogo Jota, status- Out
Jota is certainly out of Saturday’s game as he suffered a recurrence of a previous hamstring injury in pre-season. The forward has recently signed a new deal with the club, but he will have to wait to get back to action.
Jota’s unavailability means new signing Darwin Nunez or Roberto Firmino will start at the middle of the forward line.
Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, status- Out
The midfielder is also another notable absentee for the weekend’s game against Fulham. The injury-prone midfielder suffered a serious hamstring injury in the pre-season game against Crystal Palace.
The Englishman will be sidelined at least for three months.
Caoimhin Kelleher, status- Out
The Irishman has aggravated a groin strain in pre-season training and hasn’t featured with the team so far. It will take another couple of weeks to recover for the second-choice goalkeeper.
Ibrahima Konate, status- major doubt
Konate was forced off after taking a knock against Strasbourg on Sunday friendly at Anfield. The injury is a big blow for Klopp and has certainly come up at the wrong time.
The French International is a major doubt against Fulham.
Curtis Jones, status- major doubt
Curtis was expected to feature against Strasbourg on Sunday at Anfield, but due to a muscular issue, he was left out of the squad. The midfielder is a major doubt for the weekend.
Alisson Becker, status- minor doubt
Alisson picked up an abdominal injury in pre-season training, and with Caoimhin Kelleher also injured, Adrian has filled in and done well so far. But Klopp anticipates the Brazilian to feature against Fulham.
Naby Keita, status- Minor doubt
Keita too missed out on the squad’s 3-0 loss to the Ligue 1 side due to illness. However, the midfielder should recover in time to make himself available for the weekend.
Kostas Tsimikas, Status- minor doubt
Tsimikas took a knock against Salzburg in the Red Bull Arena and has not featured since then. It will be intriguing to see if the left-back makes it to the team for Saturday.
