Liverpool lower their asking price to facilitate a Red exit
Liverpool FC have reduced their asking price for Nathaniel Phillips to fasten up his Anfield Exit.
An update on Liverpool’s preparations for their tenth Anfield departure before the transfer season closes. The news comes from a reputable source. The club has already let go of nine players this summer.
Ryan Taylor of The Express reports that Liverpool has cut its asking price for Nathaniel Phillip. This happens as they prepare to let the defender leave Anfield.
Taylor claims that after lowering their asking price for the defender this summer, the club is now ready to sell the defender. And also, their objective is apparent in the reporter’s Transfer Tuesday segment for the publication.
According to reports, after his loan at Bournemouth, the club is interested in signing him to a permanent contract. Liverpool has cut their asking price by ÂŁ5 million to generate more interest and sign Phillips to a deal.
Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip had long-term injuries during the 2020–21 season. And there is no doubt that Liverpool fans appreciate Phillips’ for his contribution to the squad at that time.
The club gave the defender, who the fans dubbed “The Bolton Baresi,” a brand-new four-year contract to cement his future at Anfield as a reward for his performances throughout the Reds’ disappointing season.
Phillips himself should seek a Liverpool exit
A move away now makes perfect sense for the 25-year-old. This is because there hasn’t been a chance for the center-back to continue to play in the team now that the defensive line is looking strong and fitness is back to normal.
Former Aston Villa star Gabby Agbonlahor said:
“Nat Phillips is not a Premier League center-half. I’ve watched a bit of him now at Liverpool, and he’s not good enough. For me, he’s a Championship player at best, he’s not good enough for the Premier League, especially at the top end.”
Agbonlahor’s assessment of the player may be seen as unfair by those in recruitment teams across the top flight, especially when you consider his impact on Bournemouth over his loan period. Although, Jurgen Klopp may not be able to offer Phillips a future or first-team football with the Merseysiders. But he is attracting interest from newly-promoted Premier League clubs.
