Liverpool fans were left holding their breath after Alexis Mac Allister picked up an adductor issue (injury scare) while on international duty with Argentina.
The midfielder, who scored in Argentina’s 3-0 win against Chile, was forced off in the second half with what has been described as discomfort in his adductor muscle.
Despite the knock, Mac Allister has stayed with the Argentina squad, but he is “training differently” as he aims to be ready for their next World Cup qualifier against Colombia.
For Liverpool, however, the focus is on ensuring their midfield maestro is fit for the upcoming Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest.
Alexis Mac Allister injury – A big worry for Liverpool fans
After scoring Argentina’s opener, Mac Allister was subbed off in the 79th minute, sparking concerns for both Argentina and Liverpool. Journalist Gaston Edul reported, “Alexis Mac Allister has adductor discomfort. He will train separately until Tuesday to get ready for Colombia.”
While this gives hope that the injury isn’t too serious, Liverpool manager Arne Slot will be closely monitoring the situation.
The Reds are entering a jam-packed schedule with seven games in 22 days, making Mac Allister’s fitness crucial.
The last thing Liverpool needs is for the World Cup winner to aggravate the injury further, especially with a demanding run of fixtures on the horizon.
Liverpool fans will be hoping for the best, as Mac Allister has been a key figure in the squad since his arrival from Brighton. With his energy and vision, he’s brought a special flair to Anfield, and supporters will want to see him back in action as soon as possible. Let’s hope he returns to Merseyside fit and ready to continue making magic on the pitch!
