‘Decision is made’: ‘Outstanding’ player says he’s leaving on a free in 2025 after claims Liverpool want him
Liverpool may have pulled off some smart moves in the transfer market, but the next one could come without spending a single penny. Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah has confirmed he will leave the club in 2025, setting the stage for a potential swoop from the Reds.
The 28-year-old German international, who has been on Liverpool’s radar for some time, revealed his decision to not renew his contract, meaning he will be available on a free transfer next summer.
For a club that loves a bargain as much as Liverpool, Tah could be the perfect fit.
Jonathan Tah drops major hint about his future
Speaking to Fabrizio Romano on X, Tah said:
“I’m not gonna sign a new deal at Bayer Leverkusen. My decision is been made. I will give my best until the end here and then we will see about my future club. But my decision is to go and try a different experience.”
Tah’s comments have sparked interest across Europe, with Bayern Munich also reportedly keeping tabs on the situation.
However, for Liverpool fans, this news has all the ingredients for a classic FSG-style signing. With Tah boasting over 350 appearances for Leverkusen and 29 caps for Germany, his experience could plug the gap left by Joel Matip, who recently departed Anfield.
Could this be another shrewd deal like Mamardashvili or Chiesa? Only time will tell, but with Tah described as ‘outstanding’ by Bundesliga’s official website, Reds fans will be hoping Klopp is ready to pounce.
After all, who doesn’t love a solid defender for free?
