Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain injured

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is inching closer to returning from injury, according to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, which would expand the Reds’ options in the midfield.

Being without Thiago, Curtis Jones, Naby Keita, and Oxlade-Chamberlain for protracted periods of time due to injuries has been a serious problem for the Reds this season in the center of the pitch.

The situation for Klopp’s team has improved recently, though. While Jones made his comeback in Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over West Ham, Thiago is now totally fit.

And it now seems possible that Oxlade-Chamberlain may return shortly. During preseason in July, the 29-year-old had what Klopp called a “severe hamstring injury.” He has already missed over three months of training due to the injury.

Klopp:

“It’s a serious hamstring injury and it will take longer. But it’s a hamstring, and we all hate this word, we hate the injury but anyway, it happens from time to time, and now Ox was the one.”

A much-awaited return?

Klopp was more optimistic about the condition of the England international before Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over the Hammers, saying, “Oxlade is coming closer. Full team training was done yesterday, but it will take time.

Since tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in a Champions League match against Manchester City in March 2018, Oxlade-Chamberlain has been dealing with issues which has kept him out of action.

He missed 20 games in 2020–21 due to a different knee issue, and he has already missed 16 games this season, according to the Transfer market.

In order for Oxlade-Chamberlain to perform at his best for Jurgen Klopp’s team this season, Reds supporters will be hoping that his injury issues will soon be behind him.

As of now, the Liverpool star will be looking forward to joining the first-team on the field soon.
