Manchester City to complain to the Premier League after Anfield shenanigans

Liverpool overcame Manchester City in a thrilling match, and the Merseyside team looked like they were getting back to their best.

Unfortunately, a controversy involving Liverpool fans throwing coins at Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, might overshadow the game.

The alleged incident took place after VAR ruled that Erling Haaland fouled Fabinho in the build-up, disallowing Phil Foden’s goal.

Unfortunately, a small fraction of supporters are constantly involved in these kinds of activities. And thus, such things damage football fans’ reputations.

The acts we witnessed in the game have no place in sports. And hopefully, the FA and Premier League can identify the offenders and punish them severely. The intense match on the football field should be the main topic of conversation after this match between two of the top teams in Europe.

What happened on the pitch?

In a thrilling matchup of Premier League heavyweights, Liverpool defeated Manchester City 1-0 thanks to a Mohamed Salah breakaway goal after City had an earlier goal ruled out for offside.

The first half showed an appropriate level of energy considering that both teams have won the previous five Premier League championships combined.

As soon as City believed they had taken the lead in the 53rd minute, the game really got going. Joe Gomez deflected Phil Foden’s powerful drive from a close angle into the goal. However, VAR determined that Erling Haaland had pulled Fabinho’s jersey during the buildup, invalidating the goal.

It continued to be an exciting end-to-end battle until Salah broke the tie in the 76th minute. Alisson promptly passed the ball forward to Salah as City players advanced for a free kick. When the Egyptian forward had an open path to the goal and had deftly turned past Joao Cancelo, he buried his shot beyond Ederson.

All through the 97th minute, the Reds showed character in the game. They played their way- the Liverpool way.
