Liverpool have said to have set a fee of £10m for their skipper, Jordan Henderson should Al-Ettifaq remain keen on the prospect of landing the Anfield skipper.
The Saudi Pro League outfit were understood to be keen on snapping the Englishman up on a free transfer, despite his contract not expiring until 2025.
But the Merseysiders have made it clear that this is a scenario they will not be prepared to sanction, according to a tweet from Fabrizio Romano.
This update comes amidst the news that another Saudi club is trying to sign the Liverpool midfielder, Fabinho. Recent developments have shown that Al-Ittihad are interested in signing the Brazilian for £40m.
It seemed the club would not be interested in selling two of the experienced players in their rank. However, this is now seemingly possible as the Reds are ready to sell their captain to the Saudi club.
The Brazilian midfielder does not just act as a number 6 but could also play as a number 3 when required. Yet the club seems to be open to the prospect of selling both the players and have slapped a fee of £10m for their captain.
Major blow for Liverpool: Henderson to leave the club?
The Reds had a pretty bad season last time around and this led to a major revamp in the squad. There were many players whose contract wasn’t extended and as a result, left the club.
However, many fans thought that the exits would stop after 4 players departed the club. But this hasn’t been the case with more and more rumours coming from various reports.
Moreover, Henderson has been an integral part of the Liverpool squad. Indeed, one might argue that the Englishman is not one of the most technically gifted players.
He played a great role in all title-winning campaigns and his leadership is second to none, arguably. The captain is a fan favourite due to his loyalty to the club and his give-it-all-on-the-pitch attitude.
It is now down to Liverpool to make sure Henderson and Fabinho are playing at Anfield the next season.
