There was a chance for Liverpool to sign Kalvin Phillips for their upcoming season but they rejected the opportunity for the Leeds star midfield player

Liverpool have played impressive football in their last season and managed to win 2 trophies which made them the champions of the EFL Cup and the FA Cup. The Reds also came second in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League which was a farewell for some players.

Sadio Mane and Divock Origi are all set to join their new clubs Bayern Munich and AC Milan respectively for the 2022-23 season. Both the players have been consistent for the Merseyside club and helped win many matches and titles.

Moreover, Liverpool have managed to sign some new young talent who will look forward to giving their best. Meanwhile, the transfer window has been satisfactory for Klopp’s troops as they found the replacements for Sadio Mane and Divock Origi. However, Liverpool rejected to sign a start midfielder who could have filled the shoes left behind by Georginio Wijnaldum.

Liverpool rejected to make a move for Leeds United midfield player Kalvin Phillips

According to Journalist David Lynch who writes for The National, the Reds also passed the opportunity to sign Yves Bissouma from Brighton and Hove Albion and Youri Tielemans from Leicester City along with Kalvin Phillips from Leeds United.

Moreover, these three players might not be fit for Jurgen Klopp’s plan and that can be the reason that they have not been called by the Reds. Meanwhile, Liverpool will also look forward to signing Jude Bellingham as they have an interest in the 18-year-old.

Another reason for the rejection could be that Kalvin Phillips is a little older than the ideal age Jurgen Klopp is looking for in the 2022-23 seasons. All players signed by Liverpool this summer are also very young including Darwin Nunez, Calvin Ramsey and Fabio Carvalho.

Phillips is also considering Manchester City his future club and it looks like he might go to City this season after he rejected a move to Manchester United.
