Liverpool prodigy left-back Luke Chambers has the potential to replace current Reds backup fullback of the Reds Kostas Tsimikas in the near future.
The Anfield giants have produced many great players from their youth academies throughout their history.
And the most recent one is Trent Alexander-Arnold who has established himself as one of the best right-backs and passers of modern football.
Also, players like Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Stefan Bajcetic, and Jarell Quansah are showing signs of greatness and will soon establish themselves at the highest stage.
However, the only position which looks a bit short in terms of young backup is left-back. This position has been graced by Andy Robertson for the past few years. And his presence has secured so many titles for the club.
But whenever he has been out of the team, the Merseysiders have suffered. Although Kostas Tsimikas has been a viable option for the team, he is not as effective as the Scottish international.
Now it seems like this problem is going to be solved.
Liverpool youngster Luke Chambers can replace Kostas Tsimikas
The 19-year-old academy product has already made quite a name for himself at this young age.
Chambers has been a regular starter in the LFC youth setup for quite some years now. Recently he made his Reds senior team debut in the 3-1 victory over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup
In the second half of the 2022-23 season, he moved to Scottish side Kilmarnock for lone until the end of the season.
And in his 14 appearances in the Scottish Premiership, he made one key pass, averaged 2.1 tackles and 1.7 clearances per game, winning a considerable 62% of his ground duels (stats via Sofascore).
Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes, impressed with his debut performance stated,
“36 years ago I made my first senior debut and I certainly didn’t play as good as him! He was outstanding. He looks about 13 but he plays like a 30-year-old!
He’s so mature, he’s so calm with his defending, his decision making on the ball was very good, his choice of passes, his choice of crosses, none more so than for Danny’s goal and he’s fitted in brilliantly.”
The England U-20 international is a left-footed left-back who can effortlessly operate at center-back and left-midfielder positions.
He is technically very sound and definitely will grow physically in the coming years.
Although the ‘Greek Scouser’ extended his contract with the club, his future could be at great risk if he does not level up his game.
The youngster could quite possibly overtake Tsimikas for the Robertson backup role.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
