Transfer Tug-Of-War: Liverpool Poised To Snatch Bayern Star From Barcelona’s Grasp!

Liverpool and Manchester United are ready to battle for Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich after the German international rejected an opening offer from Barcelona.

Kimmich is one of the Bayern’s top earners at a €19.5 million annually. But he has yet to agree on a new deal with Bayern. After the emergence of the young midfielder Aleksandar Pavlovic, Kimmich was shifted to the right-back position recently.

This change of position has fueled discussions about his future at the club. Also, reports indicate that Bayern are open to letting Kimmich go if the right offer comes in the upcoming transfer window.

Despite signing Wataru Endo, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Ryan Gravenberch last year, the Reds still lack a high-quality No. 6.

Kimmich can fill this void offering both stability and versatility, as he can also play right-back. The presence of Kimmich would allow Liverpool to experiment with Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield allowing tactical flexibility.

Liverpool VS Barcelona For Kimmich!

However, Liverpool are facing competition from Barcelona, who have long been interested in Kimmich.

Now, Kimmich’s former coach at Bayern, Hansi Flick is expected to be Xavi’s successor at Camp Nou. This has added advantage to the Catalan club’s appeal.

But Barcelona’s financial constraints have hindered their progress. La Liga’s strict financial fair play laws, combined with significant salary commitments like Robert Lewandowski’s €30 million, and Frenkie de Jong’s €37 million, have constrained their ability to meet Kimmich’s salary expectations.

Consequently, Kimmich rejected Barcelona’s initial offer, casting doubt on a potential move to Camp Nou. Although this gives Liverpool an advantage in the transfer race, they are not alone in the race.

Right now, a report published by the AS claims that the last two to join the bid for Kimmich are the bitter English rivals Manchester United and Liverpool.

The report also mentions that the two Premier League giants will ‘not frown upon’ tabling an offer this summer for Kimmich and Kimmich’s situation at Bayern Munich has changed in recent times.

Kimmich, who extended his Bayern contract three years ago during the time of then-CEO Oliver Kahn and director Hasan Salihamidzic, now found himself in a changed equation without these key figures.
