Liverpool Player Ratings vs Arsenal

Goalkeepers & Defenders

Caoimhin Kelleher (GK) – 7.5/10

Made a fantastic save to deny Alexandre Lacazette’s early free-kick. Not only did he command his area well, but also looked confident with distribution and handling.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB) – 8.5/10

Not only did the 23-year-old provide two assists, but also created the most chances in the game(5). He defended very well against the in-form Martinelli and looked dangerous with possession. A solid game for the local lad!

Joel Matip (CB) – 6/10

Subbed off at halftime, the Cameroonian did not have the best of games. He did look wasteful with some of his passing.

Virgil Van Dijk(CB) – 6.5/10

Looked uncomfortable in the first half, with his passing a little off. However, improved really well in the second half and come out with a half-decent performance. Ended with the most passes on the pitch (69).

Andrew Robertson (LB) – 6.5/10

Wasn’t his usual attacking threat yesterday. Even had some trouble dealing with Saka in the first half. In the second half, much like most of Liverpool, improved vastly. Almost scored in the 76th minute.

Midfielders

Fabinho (CM) – 7.5/10

Started poorly, but finished the game well. The in-form Brazilian produced another good performance. His tackle on Martinelli turned out to be very useful and was probably game-changing. Made the most tackles in the game (4). Maybe they don’t need Kalvin Phillips after all!

Jordan Henderson (CM) – 6/10

The captain struggled once again to find his position. Though he did not make a mistake, he could not influence the game till Jota’s opener.

Curtis Jones (CM) – 7.5/10

The youngster put up a brilliant performance yesterday as he was the main link between the attack and the midfield. His quick feet frustrated Arsenal players a lot as he was fouled the most (3). He also looked really calm and composed on the ball.

Forwards

Kaide Gordon (RW) – 6/10

On a big night for the 17-year-old, the nerves were apparent. Despite that held his own, and did most of what was required of him. Should have scored in the second half, though. Despite all, he is one for the future!

Roberto Firmino (ST) – 6.5/10

Failed to contribute anything major in the first half. He even struggled in the air. Big improvement in the second half. Pressed and pulled defenders out of position and opened a lot of space.

Diogo Jota (LW) – 9/10

Made life very difficult for Tomiyasu, who had a forgetful game. Not only did he score two goals, but also won the most duels (9). An amazing performance from the Portuguese, keeping his record against Arsenal going.
