Liverpool on verge of breaking Champions League record against Villarreal

Liverpool all set to write new history on Tuesday night as they face Villarreal in the 2nd leg semi-final of the Champions League.

The Reds have a 2-goal cushion in the tie and look comfortable to reach the final of the competition in Paris. Klopp would seek to complete the job against Villarreal in the Estadio de la Ceramica.

The Yellow Submarine side fought hard in the first leg and kept relentless Reds quite in the opening half. But currently the best team in Europe, stuck two quick goals in the second half to finish off the game.

Meanwhile, Emery’s men failed to register a single shot on target last week at Anfield.

Liverpool have enjoyed an impressive run so far in the 2021-22 Champions League season. The Merseyside giants secured a 100% record in the group stage to move to the knockout stage.

Moreover, so far, the defining run for the club has been the journeys to Porto, Benfica, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and AC Milan’s territory in the Champions League this term. Klopp has seen his side come out on top on all five occasions.

Should Liverpool advance to the final by winning the second leg, it will mark new feat in the competition’s records. A 100% streak away from home in the competition for the most games in a single campaign is up for grab for the Reds.
