Liverpool are going through one of the toughest time in the Jurgen Klopp era, but despite such difficulties, they are not worried about the Champions League spot.

Thanks to the new format that UEFA introduces for the Champions League in 2024/25.

Liverpool’s current scenario

The Reds are currently struggling with their current form in all sets of competition. The Merseyside giants are trying to improve their state but are failing miserably each time. The addition of Cody Gakpo in the winter transfer window brought some hope in the fans but a single player cannot dictate the whole game.

Injury problems are also a major reason why the Reds are lacking behind the top 4 race. Key players like Virgil van Dijk, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota are out with injuries at this crucial point.

Klopp’s seventh-season curse seems to haunt the Reds from the start of the season. But football is an unpredictable game where momentum can shift within a couple of good games. This is the time when the club and the fans need to back the manager.

Liverpool not concerned about the Champions League?

Thanks to UEFA’s new format, Liverpool has to worry less about their Champions League qualification. According to their outline, two sides would qualify despite missing out, with those places being

“Awarded to the clubs with the highest club coefficient that have not qualified automatically for the Champions League’s league stage, but have qualified either for the Champions League qualification phase or the Europa League/ the Europa Conference League.”

Considering Liverpool, who are currently ranked in third place in the club coefficient, only below Manchester City and Bayern Munich, one season is unlikely to change their ranking.

That means the club is more likely to play in the Champions League in 2024/25, regardless of where they finish in PL, as long it’s a spot that guarantees Europa League or Europa Conference League qualification.

The solution in the transfer market?

This is a transition period and the fans need to have patience at this point. The English side does not have the financial muscle to pull any move to rescue them in the winter transfer window.

But the Reds need to sign a midfielder to salvage something out of this season. Jude Bellingham, Enzo Fernandez, and Mathus Nunes are some of the names that the Reds have shortlisted this season.
